An English podcast in Lebanon, made for the inner life

If you are searching for an English podcast in Lebanon, Inner Narratives is one. It is an English language Lebanese podcast of long form conversations, recorded in Beirut and hosted by Nadine Zakhem (Nadz).

The guests are Lebanese voices. The language is English. The subject is what life feels like on the inside.

Is Inner Narratives in English?

Yes. Every conversation is recorded in English. Now and then a guest uses an Arabic word because no English word fits, and we keep it. That is part of how many Lebanese people actually speak.

English lets the show travel. A listener in Montreal, Dubai, Paris or Sydney can follow every word, and so can friends who do not speak Arabic.

Why make an English language Lebanese podcast?

Because a lot of Lebanese life already happens in more than one language. Many of our guests studied, worked or lived in English. Speaking in English lets them describe their experience in the words they think in.

It also widens the circle. The stories are Lebanese, but the questions are human: pressure, purpose, grief, ambition and belonging. Anyone who has asked those questions can sit in on the conversation.

Making the show in English is not a statement against Arabic. It is a practical choice about who we want to reach and how our guests prefer to speak.

Who are the guests?

Doctors, founders, coaches, lawyers, pharmacists, musicians and organisers. Most are Lebanese, at home or abroad. What they share is a willingness to describe their life accurately rather than impressively.

Each guest has a page on this site with their bio, the episode they appear in and the topics they discuss. You can browse them all on the guests page.

What is an episode like?

One host and one guest, talking slowly. Nadine Zakhem (Nadz) leads each conversation. She asks a question and leaves room for the answer, even when the answer takes a while.

There is no script for the guest and no race to the next topic. We follow the thread that matters, and we stop when it is finished, not when a timer says so.

Every episode page has chapters, quotes, takeaways and a few reflection prompts, so you can return to the parts that stayed with you.

What does the show not do?

We do not cover news or politics. We do not interview people to sell something. We do not stage arguments. If you want analysis of current events, other kinds of shows do that work well.

What we offer instead is a quieter kind of listening. A space where a person can say what they usually keep to themselves.

Where should I begin?

If you are new, the Start Here page suggests a few paths depending on where you are in life. You can also pick a theme below, or simply play the newest episode.

If you live outside Lebanon, our page for the Lebanese diaspora podcast audience explains what listeners abroad tend to find here.

Which episodes should I start with?

What themes does the show explore?

Every conversation sits inside one or more of six themes. Identity and belonging, Diaspora and migration, Emotional pressure, Ambition and purpose, Culture and adaptation, Reflection and growth.
